PAUL F. RYAN

BIO

Paul Ryan has been in the construction industry since his teens. He began his career as a Carpenter-Inspector at Valleyfair Amusement park in Shakopee, Minnesota. Because the park was basically a small city, all aspects of home improvement were needed. Paul built everything from rides to structures. Paul was a lead Carpenter, which meant he was often sent to locations to troubleshoot problems and determine what needed to be done to fix the problem. In addition to carpentry, he is experienced in plumbing, fiberglass repair and other aspects of construction.

Paul does not consider himself an actor. He is a carpenter who happened to end up on TV. In the early 1990's, a company needed someone to host a video project who could talk about tools while using them. Paul was the perfect fit. Since that video, Paul has hosted four different television series.

Weekend Handyman’ - DIY Network. This show features projects the advanced handyman can finish in a weekend. Projects include everything from a home entertainment system to a backyard play set.

Kitchen Renovations’ - DIY Network. This show features everything from a 48 hour makeover in a kitchen to a complete wall to wall overhaul. Homeowners are on camera along with Paul learning and taking part in the process from start to finish. Projects range from rustic to contemporary and everything in between.

Home Energy Savings’ - DIY Network - Various times. This 5 part series explores ways to save money on home energy without spending a lot. Do-it-yourself projects are explained in detail and a professional home energy audit is shown as well, so homeowners can get the information they need to make the right choices when it comes to weatherproofing a home.

In addition to his television shows Paul is working on his first book, due out in November, 2006 and available at Barnes and Nobel bookstore. The book is a step-by-step look at 11 kitchens featured on his show . The book includes photos, behind the scenes information and before and after shots of the kitchens.
